INSTRUCTION SHEET FOR OBTAINING A TEMPORARY
STATE OF CONNECTICUT PISTOL PERMIT

Completely fill out application Form #DPS-799-C (REV.10/01). Have
Application Notarized.

Submit copy of Birth Certificate

Submit copy of Connecticut Operators License to indicate you
are a resident of Brookfield. If you live out of Brookfield, but
own a business in the Town of Brookfield, provide copy of a current
tax bill.

If a legal alien, provide a copy of valid I.N.S. identification.

Submit N.R.A. Certificate (may be obtained from any certified
NRA instructor).

Obtain a Money Order in the amount of nineteen dollars
and twenty-five cents ($19.25) payable to the DPS (cost
for the F.B.I. to process your fingerprints) and a Money Order
in the amount of thirty-five dollars ($35.00) payable
to the Town of Brookfield (processing fees).
When you have completely filled out the application and obtained
the necessary documentation as noted above, return to the Brookfield
Police Department, Tuesday or Wednesday, 1:00 pm – 3:00
pm for fingerprinting and submission of the above material.
The Records Division will process your application and notify you
by mail when the temporary permit is ready. This processing takes
approximately eight weeks. TEMPORARY PERMIT VALID FOR
60 DAYS.
OBTAINING A STATE OF CONNECTICUT PISTOL PERMIT
Within 60 days after obtaining a temporary permit, you must obtain
your permanent state pistol permit to carry. If temporary
permit expires without having obtained a state permit, applicant
must reapply for temporary permit following the above criteria for
obtaining a temporary permit.
