Traffic Services

 


The position of the Traffic Services Coordinator within the Brookfield Police Department is held by a patrol officer. This officer works with various municipal department (Public Works - Zoning) to assist with the ever growing traffic needs of the community.

Some of the duties and responsibilities of the traffic coordinator are: 

  • Work with the B.A.I.T. unit and the patrol commander to design and implement traffic safety and enforcement programs.

  • Developing plans for conducting traffic studies to assist patrol officers in targeting enforcement efforts and other town agencies in analyzing traffic patterns.

  • Deployment of speed trailer based on community requests and targeted needs as identified by traffic studies.
  • Coordinate with Dept. of Public Works to facilitate the proper posting of traffic signs and roadway markings.
  • Coordinate a schedule of selective enforcement for patrol division.
  • Recommend of technology and equipment purchases to assist the traffic enforcement program.
  • Maintain traffic enforcement equipment (Radar, Laser, Tint Meters, Traffic Counter, and Speed Trailer)
  • Make presentations to community groups and driver's education classes.
  • Compile monthly activity reports to the police commission.
  • Assist as needed in the investigation of motor vehicle accidents with patrol and B.A.I.T.
