NEW CLASSES STARTING SOON
Introduction
to Personal Computers
This
is a six-week course covering the basics of Windows/XP Operation System, Word
Processing and the Internet. This
course begins on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 and runs every Wednesday through
August 20, 2008. Cost is $25 for a
6-week session
Classes
start promptly at 10:00 AM and end around 12:00 noon.
Advanced
Learning Workshop
This
six-week course offers six different lessons
and will begin in late August. A
student can select
to attend any or all of the below listed classes:
1.
Windows/XP
2. Advanced Microsoft Word
3. All About E-Mail
4. Exploring
the Internet
5.
PC Maintenance & Security
6. Digital Photography Basics
If

This
program of computer training for seniors was started in 2001 by David Wainwright
at the Brookfield Senior Center. To
date, about 800 students have completed at least one of the courses.
The program, according to student feedback, is both fun and instructive.
Many students come back several times for additional classes.
The
program offers two regularly scheduled computer courses, special classes on
particular subjects and individual tutoring sessions when requested.
Each class is staffed with an instructor and several coaches.
Generally, there is a coach for a pair of students.
In a class with fewer students, it is usually one coach per student.
The coaches are there to assist a student when required and to add
information to what ever the instructor may be teaching.
The
scheduled courses, Introduction to Computing (Basic Course) and the Advanced
Learning Workshop, include discussion on the Windows Operating System, Word
Processing, Digital Photography and the Internet. Other computer related subjects like Genealogy and MS Excel
have been offered when requested. The
cost for the six-week Basic Course is $25.00.
The Advanced Learning Workshop fee is $5.00 per class or $25.00 for all
six sessions.
